I made a list with 3d laser scanners for a wide variety of tasks available on the market to help users who try to find a suitable laser scanner for their needs. I hope this helps. I didn't know where to post it exactly so i posted here to make the first topic in this "virgin" forum section Very Happy
I won’t make a thorough classification of these scanners since I don’t really know the technical details of each and one of them.
I won’t talk about scanner software since you get to know which software to buy when you purchase the scanner.
I hope that a moderator can find a better place for this, if it is needed
If you know more 3d scanners, post here so that we can update the list. And if new products from the producers already mentioned apear, post here so that i can update the list acordingly.

PS: I updated the list with all the new posts.

I was just in Japan recently and saw the new TopCon scanner. It is a good survey grade instrument at a reasonable price - like all of their totalstations etc.

For laser scanners and software try www.zf-uk.com They're part of the Z+F empire but their website is perhaps a little more informative than the Z+F.com site. I've used their hardware and their software solutions and i must say i can't fault them.

which are good for laser-scanning smallish objects that can fit in their work envelopes. The LPX-600 accomodates objects up to 16" high by 10" diameter, while the even more reasonably-priced LPX-60 handles up to 12" x 8" and the high-precision LPX-1200 is for objects up to 8" high and 5" in diameter:

http://www.rolanddga.com/asd/products/scanners/LPXseries/

Also, there's RSI GmbH, who makes a laser head suitable for mounting on a 6 DOF articulated arm: http://www.microscan-3d.com/ (as I mentioned in another post, the Microscribe is coming back).

And Creaform has expanded their product line from the original HandyScan to include high-resolution, large-area, and color-capable laser triangulation scanners: www.creaform.com

Hi

I am currently undertaking a project which requires a 3d image generated of a chemical processing cell. The cell is only accessible via a 6" port. Therefore I am looking to purchase a Laser small enough to pass through the port.

Currently been looking at the SICK LMS100
http://www.hizook.com/files/publications/SICK_LMS100.pdf

We already have a rotational mechanism to mount the laser upon.

I require a measured distance accuracy of approximately ± 10/20 mm and a scanning range of 4 metres or better.

If anyone could suggest a laser that could meet my needs I would be very grateful.

Most of these seem like a measuring system, and not what I would consider 3d scanning.

Looking for nice 3d scanner with resolution under 50 microns....

www.nextengine.com is nice, but it is only 80-120 micron resolution.
Can't beat the price.

I currently use white striped light scanners from Germany. They are very very accurate for tiny little things, but they are not configured to export an open stl file. They are encryped to work with a Dental CAD/CAM systems. I want to goof-off in other industries.

I run a couple of rapid-prototype printers and CNC mills for Dental and Jewelry, and somethimes other applications.

Hi,

Can I add a new laser scaning sytem from Wenzel to the list, its called Mobilescan3d. Fully CNC can be used with Geomagic and Wenzel Pointmaster software and yes it really is CNC.

For more details goto www.mobilescan3d.co.uk or www.wenzel-cmm.co.uk

See also the new CT machine from Wenzel called exaCT.

Thanks & best regards,
