Regards to all,

It is great to find that there are un-biased forums for this kind of stuff.

This reflects a high level of intellect, in my opinion.

I am looking for a 3D scanner that can scan objects as small as a hair in high resolution. The standard I'm comparing to is 3Shape's R700 Scanner. They quote "<20 microns" in the accuracy field.

Would I find any scanner on the market that could scan to commonly used 3D CAD/CAM formats?

I started looking into Amok's list, but I'll really appreciate guidance from a professional.

Many Thanks in Advance.

Actually, thanks for just being there...

Hello,

I been searching for the last month for the 3d laser scanner system with better than 20 micron resolution and the result is not very positive. I contacted an half dozen companies and they failed my request, scan a video card, create point cloud, turn it into feature-based CAD... My best result was DirectDimensions near Baltimore, MD. Anyway, it looks like Rapidform XOR is best for my application. They are advertising 3rd generation software that can create feature-based CAD model automatically (almost). Good luck with the search.
